Here are some of the things you can do at the library...
The library offers free, ultra-fast public wi-fi, and public computers with high-speed internet access.
A library card entitles you to borrow books, DVDs, music, and many other items. It also gives you access to a wide selection of eContent including newspapers, magazines, movies, music, books and more. Borrow from our collection of over 20,000 items ... and if we don't have it, we'll find it for you.
The Sundre Library strives to ensure there are no barriers to enjoying all that the Library has to offer. As such, Sundre Municipal Library cards are FREE to any person living in Sundre and the surrounding area. If you have a library card, you will be allowed to take materials home with you, as well as access many of the library's online resources from home.
Registering for a library card is simple. Simply stop by the library and ask staff for a library card. If you are age 15 or younger parental approval is required, so please stop by the library with a parent or guardian to pick up your library card.
If you'd like to help us continue to keep our library memberships free and accessible to all, we encourage you to check out some of the ways you can support our library (under the 'About Us' tab). Monetary donations are tax-deductible.
The Sundre Library ... MORE than you imagine!
Alberta Wide Borrowing (ME Libraries)
Library members can register with non-Parkland public libraries across the province to easily borrow physical items (not eContent) using their Parkland Regional Library card. Borrowed materials can be returned to any public library, too. All this for free!
Borrow print and audio books, movies, music CDs, game discs and even journal and newspaper articles from libraries across the province. Request online using your Parkland Regional Library card number and PIN or ask library staff to find / request items for you. We will look far and wide – beyond Alberta and even internationally – to track down specific items and contact you when your item arrives so you can pick it up.
Photocopying / Printing
The library can satisfy your need for black and white copying/printing for 20₵ per page. Colour copies: 75₵. We can also fax your documents, or scan and email them.
Reading Suggestions and Research Help
Looking for your next enthralling read or video content on a theme? Library staff can match you to the perfect book, movie, documentary, or audiobook.
We can also help you find information on any topic imaginable from family history research to raising chickens in your backyard.
Alternate Formats for Print Disabilities
Albertans unable to use conventional print materials due to a print disability (visual, physical or cognitive) have a number of options to access materials in alternate formats. Our library can provide access to large print books, audio books on discs or in digital format (direct to device or computer), braille books, described video and equipment (i.e. DAISY readers). We can also help you register for services through the National Network for Equitable Library Service (NNELS) or the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA).
Outreach & Homebound Delivery
If you are unable to visit the library yourself, Outreach Services volunteers will deliver materials to your home or care facility.
Exam Invigilation (Proctoring)
Ideal for distance learners or anyone who needs to write regular certification exams, the library provides a quiet space and exam supervisor. Book a time with staff prior to your exam arrival to make sure we can accommodate you. There will be a charge for faxing, mailing, courier and printing.
Tools & Equipment
Parkland Regional libraries lend many non-book materials such as eReaders, pedometers, radon screening kits, power monitors, DAISY book readers, projectors and screens, hiking poles, snowshoes and even telescopes. Ask staff about all the exciting things you can borrow from us!
Schedule a one-on-one technology tutorial with one of our staff members. Perfect for getting acquainted with a new computer, setting up a Facebook account, or learning how to download eBooks onto your eReader.
