The Summer Reading Club is a free program suggested for children ages 5-12. Our seven week program aims to encourage literacy, create community connections, increase accessibility, and indigenous inclusion.

Themes

July 13th - 17th - Decked Out!
July 20th - 24th - Wild Things

August 3rd- 7th - Around the World
August 10th - 14th - Boardom Busters

Children can complete weekly challenges to earn entries into one of our four Summer Prizes. At the end of the summer we will be giving away two board games, a summer fun basket, and a Nintendo Switch!

This year's Summer Reading Club will give out weekly supply kits on Monday mornings on a first-come first serve basis. We will also upon registration give you access to our online programming website where we will guide children through games, S.T.E.M., art, and literacy activities!

Update July 30/20

The Summer Reading Club is now offering in-person programming on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in August! The SRC has created a list of policies for in-person programming that you can read below. Children must be registered with the Summer Reading Club and parents are required to sign their children up in advance for each session. Please do not hesitate to call or visit the Library for more information!

  1. Each session is capped at 8 participants.

  2. Families with multiple children must fill out a form for EACH CHILD to ensure we do not go over our maximum capacity for each session.

  3. A parent/ responsible guardian (age 14+) must accompany children to the library, sign the child in, and answer 5 quick screening questions.

    1. Please come to the back door of the library (through the alley) where we will be set up either inside or, weather permitting, outside.

    2. We will be ready to accept participants 10 minutes before the program begins. If you arrive earlier you may need to wait for us!

  4. Hand sanitizer will be required upon entry to the Library. We also have masks if anyone would like to wear one.

  5. Participants will be given a spot at a table to sit with all of their materials ready. This will discourage sharing of materials and ensure all children are adequately distanced.

  6. Sessions will last an hour.

  7. Sessions are to be outside if the weather cooperates.

    1. These would be held behind the library by our current programming shed.

    2. We will post signage that we are back there and keep vehicles at a slow pace through the alley.

    3. We would like you to know that your child may be out in the sun for an hour; if they require a water bottle, sun screen, a hat, or anything else needed for spending time outside, it should be provided by parents before coming to the library.
