For Alberta Culture Days, WP Puppet Theatre presents: Puppet Workshops at the Library!
Funded by an Alberta Culture Days Grant, these free puppet workshops help children to creatively learn about themselves and the world around them through the magical world of puppets!
The deadline for registration is September 28th.
Emotional Colours (ages 5-7): 10:30am-12:00pm. Inspired by the charming book "The Color Monster", participants will make a pocket-plate puppet in a colour of their choice, using all sorts of creative materials and ephemera. After a quick review of professional puppet manipulation techniques we'll share our puppet's stories about how and why he/she/they feels.
Diverse World (ages 8-10): 1:00pm-3:00pm. Choosing from a 'buffet' of creative materials participants will make a utensil puppet from a fork or spoon, metal, plastic or wooden, of various colours and more. We'll read "The Sandwich Swap" and discuss how people are both the same and different and how this diversity can cause issues as well as bring strength to a community. After a quick review of professional puppet manipulation techniques, participants will develop a quick story to share and video on a diversity theme.
